I had to install this as a serial device. Found that information either in Q/A or other reviews online. The instructions with the software and online are not great. I don't think there is enough information about how to use this software. You kind of have to stumble through it.

I am still a new user, so, much to learn. Also, with this type of communication, you need to have the console close to your computer to plug it in. I looked at the IP software and it was not wireless, so again you have to have a hard connection to your router. A wireless link would be fantastic. Also when we move I can simply bring in the outside unit and not worry about loose cables. However, I wish DAVIS had provided a blue tooth option instead having to tether my pc to the receiving unit with a cable.

I see this as a major inconvience.
